Kirrweiler is one of the idylic wine villages in the Palatinate, the so called wine cellar of Germany. This area in the southwest of Germany near the French border is characterized by large vineyards in wonderful landscape.
Favoured by a mild climate with long hours of sunshine exotic fruits like figs, chestnuts and almonds as well as grapes can grow in abundance.
A journey along the German Wine Street with it`s lovely places will enjoy you. The village of Kirrweiler is situated in an ocean of vineyards. Nice houses with magnificent facades and beautiful archways and churches built in the baroque period can be admired there. New and old elements are combined in an elegant way. Lots of small streets head through the vineyards and make biking-tours as well possible as walkings. Three small lakes invite for picnic. Walking in the near-by forest or visiting castles in the surroundings will give you pleasure. Day-trips to historic towns like Neustadt, Speyer, Heidelberg or Straßbourg (F) will be unforgettable.
